Jae Lee - Artist

So here I am... I should be finishing up my portfolio but I have such a desire to write about one of my all time favourite artist,  Jae Lee.

I have
been a Jae Lee fan since the late 90's. The first time I saw his work was in an X-Factor comic my brother use to collect. At that time I was a die hard Sam Kieth fan (Maxx, Hulk). When I saw Jae Lee work I was taken! His work was sooo dirty and sketchy but at the same time realistic. I am a person that like different type of artwork and this guy was it!

I kept following his stuff throughout the years like his Youngblood, Spiderman and Hellshock. Hellshock was great because he took comic art to a different level. Everything about his art is amazing. His art tells the story, bring out a mood of what the story is about. And then lost track of him. He always brought a dark twist to his work. He always bring a sense of quality like a luxury car ad, you can always tell quality of the car thought the sleekness of design and imagary. Jae lee does this. Like the Silv
er Surfer here. He makes Silver Surfer look good and a bad ass. Makes him look exspensive.

I stopped following comic art due to the fact that everything nowadays is manga related and most of it isn't good at all. I recently found some Jae Lee stuff! His style has comletely changed1 for the better!

It shows that a true artist is always developing their work. Jae Lee is no exception! I got my hands on the Fantastic Four Graphic Novel he did. I believe it was a series of comics which was reprinted into a graphic novel form. His clean cut realisim dark goldmine of a style is such an inspiration to me as an artist. I know my style will never be like his, but thanks to him  I have the inspiration to develop my style. make it different. make it worth something. make it me.

make it!

Here is a site that has a butt load of his art.

Please take the time to see his early work and then his most recent work. Look at his development, his evolution, his growth. its great!!!
